Mom is wearing regular clothes to her first group therapy session. Good-bye hospital gown! |
Mom's new schedule is very active! For someone just out of the hospital, she sure is working hard.
- 8 am - breakfast
- 9 am - relax, enjoy coffee and visiting
- 10 am - shower (a real one! yay!), get dressed and brush teeth
- 11 am - group therapy
- Noon - lunch
- Sometime between 1 pm and 5 pm - another 1.5 hour therapy session and a nap
- 5 pm - dinner (the food is good - a real chef works here!)
- 6-8 pm - hang out and enjoy visiting with family and friends, watch the sunset
- ~8:30 pm - zonk out from sheer exhaustion
Several folks have asked where they can reach Mom - she's at:
Judy Worrell
c/o Reliant Mid-Cities
2304 State Highway 121
Bedford, TX 76021
Or you can mail cards to our house, and we'll bring them to her. She now has a full album of cards and pictures! We read her Facebook and blog messages to her every day, too, and she loves hearing from everyone.
Thanks again for all of your support!

Lookin' good! I like the clip! It must feel great to take a real shower and eat real food. I'm glad you are enjoying your new place. Hopefully, it won't be long and you will be back home enjoying your home, pool, garden, and own bed!
Judy,
So great to see you making such good progress!
Keep up the good work, we continue to keep you in our prayers!
You are a special lady and I am proud to call you friend.
Love you bunches, Libba
Mrs. Worrell looks great! I'm so happy for her! Keep at it Mrs. Worrell, it's almost over! :)
The tests are starting tomorrow, Mrs. Worrell! The reading STAAR test is on Wednesday, and every time I think of how much you have helped me, I scream inside "I AM READY!"
Good luck, Mrs. Worrell, and hopefully see you soon! Love you!
Yea! We are keeping up with your progress. Best wishes for you continued recovery. Stay positive. Love Marilyn and George Boone
Mom did great with today's morning physical therapy (11 am-noon); she was in a class with at least two dozen other patients, and they lifted hand weights and did what movements they could from their wheelchairs. Mom said later that she enjoyed "the novelty" of something different and only teared up when the therapist started singing "You're a Grand Ol' Flag."
This afternoon Mom had an exhausting hour of speech therapy. The therapist, Nikole, came in with a stack of printed-out exercises, and they were really tough; they were designed to test her command of words, numbers, dates, comprehension and body awareness, and she excelled at some things and struggled with others. Dates are particularly tough. But she kept her sense of humor. Once she read aloud a card that said "Close your eyes," so she read it out loud, closed her eyes and then said to the therapist, "How literal are you?"
The therapist got a good giggle out of that one.
I'm excited to see the amazing progress you're making. I really was caught by surprise this morning to hear how good your speech has gotten.
I'm looking forward to sitting out on the back patio with you guys soon!
Also, bravo to Ken, Jennifer, Alicia, Sara and the other folks who are doing such a great job. My hat is off to you guys and your dedication.
Love, Peter
Way to go Judy!!! I bet you really showed them how to use those hand weights! I suspect before it is over, you will be tutoring the other members of the group. :) Keep up the good work. I'm proud of you!
Glad to hear your mom is making good progress. Go, Judy!
So, so glad to hear that Judy has moved forward in her journey and is now in rehab. Let the fun, and the work, begin! It's heartwarming to Judy's wit and humor though your posts.
Again, many thanks for the continual updates in this blog. We sorely miss her at NRMS!
Continued love and prayers coming your way.

Way to go, Judy!! We are all so proud of you. And please, keep the English puns coming. Truly, you are the Queen! Hugs!
Looking good Mrs. Worrell! So glad you are doing so well in rehab. That puts you a step closer to home! Glad you are getting some good nourishment too...trust me I know how the food is at HEB.Glad Reliant is better. I've heard many good things about Reliant so I think you are in good hands!
Is she just getting speech and physical therapy and not occupational therapy or do they combine PT and OT?
Everyone continue to keep up the great work you all do. You all are still in my prayers.
Judy! Judy! Judy!
I'm so happy to hear about your progress. You inspire all of us, then again, you always have.

Judy, I had the best dream about you last night. (In case you didn't hear this from Brandi, I have a bizzare and sometime prophetic dream life and have since I was 9) I was at a store, grocery or farmer's market I think, and we ran into each other in the same checkout line. You looked great and mentioned that you were only having to 1/2 day therapy and your speech and motor skills were PERFECT! It seemed like no time had past and you were as sassy as ever. I'm confident this dream was not just an active imagination. Love you!
